North Bend to Carnation, Sat., April 28
Ride leader Bob Freeman submitted this report. Thanks to all who braved the elements and joined us on this very memorable ride. We managed to dodge most of the raindrops from North Bend to Carnation, and then pulled into Starbucks just as the heavens opened up for real. After a leisurely snack and coffee, the clouds thinned and we headed up the now-muddy trail, where the sun actually shone most of the time. We chose to stop and see Snoqualmie Falls just before the cold front rolled through and were treated to a fantastic display of nature's power in the form of lightning, THUNDER, hail and torrential rain. As it was getting colder, we decided not to wait this one out and sprinted the last six miles to North Bend. At least the rain washed off the bikes on this leg. 13 tandem teams and 2 singles showed up. Bravo! Click on the thumbnails to see larger image. Photos by Don Schroeder except as noted.
